A stunning looking helmet in green/black camo and c/w it's camo & hessian net. Nice clear unit insignia of a yellow sphinx on a red and blue square. Owners army no. (unclear) scratched to liner and his name "JACK" painted to inside shell. I am unsure if this is wartime or post war as the date is unclear possibly 1941 or 1951, therefore it's priced as per a post war example. Also the maker CCL (CHRISTY & CO. LTD) did produce helmets post war.
Khaki wartime chinstraps (as opposed to post war green) and white liner tapes, again a wartime characteristic. Good size 7 and 3 eights. Good top pad, some of the sorbo rubber brittle, this is leather edged , again a wartime characteristic. Great helmet at a modest price.

An outstanding example from the famous Matt Taylor collection, which was sold off in the 1980's. No moth or damage. Nicely braided cords. No cap lines. Beautiful diamond cut silver/gilt officers badge with Victorian crown shellac to peak with none of the usual crazing and congealing. Brass thistle on corded boss. Interior good with some service wear. Stitching repair where chin strap attaches to left side. Makers stamp for McClymont Dewar, Miller St. Glasgow to quilted crown. Green wool ball tuft. Full length chin strap. Cracking helmet from this very famous collection of Scottish militaria. 100% all original.

A good early Victorian example of a blue cloth helmet. Correct brass fittings. Nice, original helmet plate. Hook on right hand boss absent. Early rounded peak wth leather trim. Some moth tracking to cloth, only visible on close inspection. Good size, approx. 56. Interior with "W.D. 1813 " and arrow. Owners name "BRAITHWATE" applied to crown. Interior good with some service wear. Some slight damage to front peak (see photo) ,otherwise V.G. for age. Low price for such a rare helmet.

Fantastic early raw edge brodie with rare buckle chinstrap as found on the very first steel helmets produced. Prototype liner in good condition. Rubber buffers absent. Stamping to shell "TKS4". Camo paint. There is a linen label attached, "Harry Lauder Collection". "Steel helmet worn by H.L. at Arras while being bombarded. It was a narrow shave. I was nearly not writing these lines". Harry Lauder applied to join the army after hsi son, an Argyll and Sutherlander highlanders officer was killed in France. He was refused but eventually allowed to go to the front line to entertain the troops. This he did with a paino attached to the front of a track, from the Lauder collection which was sold off in the 70's. A rare helmet in it's own right but attributable to Scotland's most famous music hall singer.
